Getting involved with the society could not be easier!  There are many levels at which you can participate:

Weekly business meetings are held every Tuesday at 8pm in the rooms above Potterrow.  Usually, anyone can attend these, with posters and emails advertising each one weekly.  After these meetings we hold private business, where the running of the RMS is discussed, any member is welcome to attend these.

We also have a huge amount of socialising each year – parties, dinners and pub crawls! Everyone is very welcome to attend these.

Any individual can join the RMS.  We have a range of membership packages which run from 1 year to 5 years.  Benefits include 24-hour access, priority attendance at our many tutorials and access to travel and study grants.  You can enquire and join at the RMS office – open weekdays 12pm-5pm.

Each area of the RMS is run by a Convenor.  They are responsible for ensuring jobs get done and are always looking to recruit new members for their committee. You can sign up on the sheets outside the office! You can help as little or as much as you like – convenors will be glad of any help! And it looks really good on your CV!

Once you have attended 5 weekly meetings you will be eligible to vote in discussions and run for convenor positions at the yearly AEGM.

Once you have been a convenor – you can run to be a president!

Membership for 5 years automatically makes you a Life Member!

Once you have attended approximately 30 meetings; submit and present a  dissertion on the subject of your choice; and down a pint... – you can become a fellow of the RMS and get the letters FRMS after your name!
