Defined as “vital emergency care in remote settings”, wilderness medicine covers a host of topics relating to medical applications in expedition, outdoor sport and fieldcraft settings. It’s very different from the hospital-based medicine we learn on our course and is always an eye-opener.
So if you’ve ever done a Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition, are an outdoor sportsperson or are just keen to learn about some interesting applications of medicine outside the 4 walls of a hospital, come along next Tuesday to what promises to be a packed talk.
For those of you who may be interested in wilderness medicine yourself, check out Edinburgh’s Wilderness Medicine Society’s page: https://www.facebook.com/
