Prizes will be awarded to the best presentations, including a £25 prize donated by the Academy for the Study of Medical Education to be given to the best presentation on research related to medical education.

By 1st September 2012, we commit to have held at least one awareness-raising event. We also commit to advertising the Global Strategy through links on our website and to promote our support at RMS events run throughout the year.

This year looks better than ever, including the first of our regular guest lectures, the Freshers’ Fair, events at our sponsor venues (Room at 34 and 56North) and the infamous White Coats Pub Crawl!

The talks cover a variety of subjects and this year’s offering can be seen on the Calendar or from paper syllabuses available in the RMS itself.

At most of these meetings, there is dinner for the speakers prior to the talk which members can go to and have a 3 course meal prepared by a member of the Council. Sign up sheets for these are available outside the Permanent Secretary’s office.

A few of the sessions are for members only, particularly the clinical skills sessions and revision tutorials, run by older members of the Society.

After you have been at five meetings and signed the register, you are eligible to be elected onto the RMS Council at the AEGM in April 2011.

He spoke at the RMS last year on the challenges facing a medic in the game and is returning to talk on another aspect of sport medicine.

It was standing room only last year and promises to be another fascinating, interactive evening at the RMS, 8pm.

This event takes place every year, where the previous Senior President Scott Mather hands over the title to our new President (Kristina Lee).

Following this there will be a talk from Professor Richard Knight entitled ‘Life as a Neurologist’. Prof. Knight, as well as being a practicing neurologist – specialising in the study of prions, he is heavily involved in the teaching of Neurology in the medical school, and is always an engaging and interesting speaker.

The talk will last an hour, after which the party is moving to Koko.

This is always a popular event and, if you’re a first year, as good an introduction to the RMS as any. Dress code is casual.
